I studied painting at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, and also at the Vermont Studio School in Johnson, VT. I have had the great fortune to have outstanding teachers: Barnet Rubenstein, Rob Moore, Stephen Pace, Elsa Kula and Davis Pratt.
These charcoal drawings are large-scale studies of leaves, seed-pods and flowers gathered in the desert Southwest. As they dry, they fade and twist and re-form into new shapes. By moving in close, the picture plane becomes filled with movement and light through pattern and repetition. By looking closely I feel drawn in to slow down and see just what is there.
My work can also be seen at Two Graces in historic Ranchos de Taos Plaza.
